TabKeeper Privacy Policy
Version: 1.0.0 | Last updated: 2026-10-30
TabKeeper ("the Extension") is a browser extension developed by an individual developer that helps users back up, stash, and organize their browser tabs. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what information the Extension collects, how it is used, and how it is protected.
1. What We Collect
- Tab titles and URLs: To provide backup and stashing features, the Extension reads the titles and URLs of your open tabs and saves them to the extension storage on your local browser.
- The Extension does not collect: your name, contact information, account passwords, private browsing history content, cookies, or location data. It does not track your activity on other websites.
2. Data Storage and Transmission
- Fully local by default: Tab data is stored only in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local) by default and is never uploaded to any server.
- Optional AI feature: Only when you actively enable "AI Clustering" in the settings and provide your own DeepSeek API Key will tab titles be sent to the official DeepSeek API (api.deepseek.com) for automatic grouping. This data is processed by the service associated with the key you configured; the Extension developer does not access or store these requests.
- Once you disable the AI feature or remove your key, all data returns to a fully offline local state.
3. Your Control
- You can delete any stash or clear all saved data anytime from the extension popup.
- You can export all data as a JSON file to your own computer at any time, and import it back when needed.
- Uninstalling the Extension deletes all of its local data.
4. Permissions Used
- tabs: Reads tab titles and URLs (required for backup and stashing features).
- storage: Saves backup data locally (required).
- alarms: Enables scheduled automatic backups (required).
- api.deepseek.com access: Used only when you enable the AI feature.
5. Security and Compliance
- The Extension is Manifest V3 and contains no remote code, no ads, no analytics, and no third-party SDKs.
- All code in the Extension is openly reviewable and performs no hidden behavior.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third party.
